Bham Zoo
Objective:
Create a unique stylized promotional for the Poison Dart Frogs of the Birmingham Zoo.
With my design, I wanted to exemplify the playfulness of the poison dart frog in a sarcastic manner. I wanted colorful forms and appealing shapes that make the poster fun yet facetious. Originally, the design featured a tongue roller coaster that would funnel ants into the mouth of the frog. It was an attempt to call back to the dirty dingy fun of a poorly lit carnival. As the design was refined, the tongue shape was simplified and ended with
a skull to more apparently the sinister nature
of the poison dart frog. Visually, I used bold colors and harsh textures to invoke a punk rock aesthetic. The poison dart frog is only about 2 inches tall but still presents itself as a powerful threat. I feel that threat personified would be a strong, powerful, and loud presence.
